16th Sedbergh Market and Charter Fair. A celebration to the granting of the Market Charter in 1251 with people dressed in period costume as well as there being street entertainers, and food and crafts stalls. www.sedbergh.org.uk

 

16th – 17th Lakes Chilli Fest at Levens Hall, one of the hottest events this summer. www.levenshall.co.uk

17th Lakeland Country Fair, Torver  An event of everything traditional. There’s Cumberland & Westmorland wrestling, dog shows, fell-racing, ferret racing, children’s area, home produce, stalls, refreshments and much more. 01542 71584

Lee Beel Photographs the Lake District

Lee Beel spent a weekend in a caravan in Windermere with his in-laws... We booked the caravan, near Toutbeck Bridge, for the following week too so we could have more time to explore. It's usually true that places of interest are bustling with visitors at the weekends and quieter during the week, so I planned to return later when there would be fewer people around. I prefer my landscape images to be free of people.
